Hello! My name is Sam Heaven and I live in Bury, Greater Manchester with my lovely husband Chris and our amazing 11 year old son.
In January 2018, I made the leap from teaching to childminding and I absolutely love it. I have the opportunity to fulfil the requirements of the Early Years Statutory Framework from the comfort of my own home. This enables my mindees to learn at their own pace and through their individual interests within a loving and relaxed environment.
Each day, I have 3/4 children, so we get to know each other really well, and I can tailor their Early Years Curriculums specifically to their needs. I facilitate their learning using a wide range of resources and my professional experience through the playroom, garden and lots of Blue Button adventures!
This day was both brilliant and so sad - my biggest mindee asked for a fancy dress picnic in the park for her last day at Blue Button. We made lots of memories and had the loveliest day. Here's a link to that special day and our Blue Button adventures.
About Me
I am a mum, wife, childminder and former primary school teacher. I am passionate about Early Years and I believe it's an absolute privilege to help young children learn important life skills that will help them for the rest of their lives I loved teaching, but I love childminding even more because of the opportunities it has created. My classroom is no longer four walls; it is wherever we choose to take it and I can tailor the EYFS curriculum exactly to the needs of 3/4 children each day!
My experience and qualifications can be viewed here, and I can also provide professional references.
I have looked after children for over 20 years, since babysitting in my teenage years, working at local play schemes during my summer holidays and volunteering at local primary schools before qualifying as a teacher in 2013. Working with children really is incredibly rewarding, great fun and I can honestly say I have learnt so much from them, and continue to do so every day!
Prior to my formal teaching career, I worked my way up to the management team of a well known supermarket. The world of retail was not my vocation, but it taught me about motivation, hard work and the power of respect and communication. During my time there, I worked with colleagues and customers from across the world and from all walks of life. It was a fantastic experience.
My family and friends mean the world to me - especially my son and husband! Stanley is growing up fast and Chris works away in the week, so our weekends are precious and dedicated to family time! The three of us love nothing more than jumping in the car and heading off on an adventure! Stan and I are very lucky to have our Blue Button Family during the week and our own family at the weekends!
